POWERBALL® Jackpot Grows to $310 Million; Delaware Lottery Reminds Players To Play Responsibly

Dover, DE --As Saturday’s upcoming POWERBALL® annuity jackpot reaches $310 million; the Delaware Lottery is encouraging responsible play and reminding players to enjoy lottery games without spending more than they can afford. The top prize for the February 11 drawing sets a record cash value jackpot of $193.4 million and ranks as the fifth largest POWERBALL® annuity jackpot in the history of the game.

“Lottery games are meant to be fun and entertaining and we want to remind our players that it only takes one ticket to win,” said Lottery Director, Vernon Kirk.  “By keeping those things in mind when jackpots reach these record levels, our players can enjoy POWERBALL® and other Delaware Lottery games in balance with their other personal entertainment expenses.”

The current jackpot run began December 28, 2011, and Saturday’s drawing will be the 14th draw without a jackpot-winning ticket.  The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) made changes to the game of POWERBALL® that went into effect on January 15.  At that time, the POWERBALL® jackpot was $80 million for the January 18 drawing.  Seven drawings later, the jackpot has grown rapidly to $310 million annuity.  If won on February 11, one lucky winner could choose the record cash value of $193.4 million.

The Delaware Lottery joins other lotteries across the country in support of responsible play by emphasizing that the odds of winning a jackpot prize are 1-in-175 million and that players should play within their means.
